So I’ve been MIA for the past two weeks thanks to school work catching up to me. It was just not my week that’s for sure. As a result I apologize for not being consistent. However, school will never keep me down for long and I’ll be back before you know it.

Now that the apologies are out of the way, we can move on to more exciting things. For these bi-weekly highlights I’ll pick four shows that impressed me the most in the past two weeks, and one (if any at all) that disappointed me.

He's a glutton alright, a glutton for punishment.

Working’!! episode 6

The new characters of the second season of Working!! were finally introduced and what a pair they are. Yohei and Mitsuki are the type of brother and sister pair that my brother and I never were. Though from the looks of it, they do care enough about each other to carry around a picture of the other with them at all times. While the second half was a bit disappointing (It’s basically showing how little progress the show has made in the Souta/Inami department), that one punch at the end didn’t seem as hard hitting as usual, so perhaps Inami is improving little by little. Though, that awesome  four punch combo of hers upon meeting Yohei was hilarious. If Working!! was ever made into a fighting game, Inami would be immensely overpowered.

Mirai Nikki episode 5

Ahh, Yuno . . . she’s like the peanut butter and jelly of Mirai Nikki. And yes that comparison does make sense. I envy those who are watching this without any prior knowledge of the series and yet, at the same time, I’m still enjoying the heck out of it. Sure, I may know all the plot twists but watching Mirai Nikki in motion is a treat within itself (Who doesn’t love watching a crazy girl hack through cult zombies with an axe?). If Mirai Nikki continues to provide this enjoyment then I await the day that I can add this version of this awesome series to my collection. I’ll just pray for a good dub (Funimation don’t let me down!).

Guilty Crown episode 4

Who cares if the plot is scrambled eggs, Guilty Crown has awesome action that’s animated like nobody’s business and I’m getting my weekly dose of high school romance in an action setting. If this show does one thing right in the end, I certainly hope it’s the relationship between Inori and Shuu, because they are now officially my pairing of the season (Though that’s only because I have yet to decide on my OTP in Chihayafuru and Yachiyo and Jun don’t count ’cause I’ve been shipping them since 2010). I’m a bit worried that Inori may turn into something like Rose from Dragon Crisis (I had horrible Ruuji flashbacks when Inori jumped from the building. Granted she still looked awesome), but I’ll give the writer of Code Geass a break. I have faith.

Chihayafuru episode 5

(Nothing says destiny like flowers.) Well, I’m still in love with this show and I don’t think that’s going to change anytime soon. It has romance, comedy, and drama all wrapped up neatly in a box with a bow on top. In episode five the drama could have easily become melodramatic but as of right now it skips along the line between melodramatic and static and that’s perfect. The ending with Arata chasing after the train is a spectacle to watch that nearly tops Guilty Crown in pure aesthetics but it also has the emotion behind it that makes it feel real. I truly enjoy every single minute of this show. (I watched episode six earlier today and boy were they laying on the romance aspect. If there were ever any doubts that Chihayafuru wouldn’t focus on romance then the meaning of the Chihayafuru card will certianly change your mind)

Honorable mention: Fate/Zero episode 4 – This fight was badass. ‘nuf said.

There really hasn’t been any huge disappointments in the past two weeks that they’d warrant a notice, so that’s all folks! ( though I was a bit said that SPOILER the genius representing Da Vinci in Phi Brain was actually a guy, I was all ready to chalk one up for the girl’s team. Oh well, Nonoha still kicks ass)
