Cholisose: Our last Anime Watchers film for July is Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva, which features characters from the Professor Layton video game franchise for the Nintendo DS. This post will offer two perspectives of the film, as Ultima has played the games before, and I haven’t. Does the film manage to please its built-in fanbase, and is it still approachable for those new to the series?

Cholisose: For our second movie of our summer film festival, we watched Time of Eve. The story was first told as a series of six ONAs (original net animation) in 2008 and 2009, which was all put together as a film (along with some extra footage) in 2010. The director, Yasuhiro Yoshiura, is also known for the OVA Pale Cocoon, as well as the upcoming film Sakasama no Patema. Helping me with today’s post on Time of Eve will be Totali, a fellow writer at the Sea Slugs Anime Blog.

Note: Next Sunday the Anime Watchers Club will have a post for First Squad: The Moment of Truth. Be sure to watch that by July 15th! But for now, let’s dive in to Time of Eve.

Note: And remember, next Sunday we will discuss the film Time of Eve. Be sure to watch that film before July 8th! But for now, let’s analyze Colorful a bit.

The last four episodes of Ginban Kaleidoscope overall maintained the same formula the first eight episodes established. In the end I found the series to be an enjoyable watch, and the ending especially has left me with a variety of feelings. It was certainly an atypical conclusion, though perhaps it should have been expected when considering the premise.

The drama is starting to heat up in these next four episodes of Ginban Kaleidoscope. How is everyone enjoying Tazusa’s journey to the Olympics? It’s quite the little roller-coaster we have here. :>

Ginban Kaleidoscope caught my eye a while back thanks to its unique premise. Admittedly, I have an interest in stories involving spirits, and I’ve been in the mood for a nice lighthearted romcom. And when it comes to sports, to be honest the only ones I have the faintest interest in watching are found in the Winter Olympics. I like snow and ice, and the contestants really dive right into such dangerous and spectacular sports for these events… Figure skating included. I’m not truly into the sport (eg I don’t know most of the terms), but it is quite exhilarating to watch.

I’m going to go ahead and announce this nice and early to see if that will be helpful for people to find and download anime episodes in time for everyone to watch them before the club’s first post in June. For this upcoming month, we will be watching everyone’s favorite spirit-possession-themed figure skating romcom, Ginban Kaleidoscope!
