I’ve been a manga fan or a long time, longer than I’ve been an anime fan.  Although I enjoy both mediums, there’s just a certain charm to manga that makes it more appealing in  my eyes. Even if I enjoy an anime series, I can usually only watch two or three episodes at a time before having to take a break. With manga, I can read through volumes of a series that I like with little problem. With that said, there are quite a few manga that I have come to love through the years that have not yet been published in North America. Below I make a small list, in no particular order, of some of the manga that I think deserve to get licensed and published in this side of the world.

One of my favorite manga creators out there is Yuki Midorikawa, best known for Natsume Yuujinchou (or Natsume’s Book of Friends, as it’s titled in English). The Natsume manga is an ongoing series, and so far eight volumes have been released in North America by Viz in their Shojo Beat lineup. The anime adaptation is currently airing its third season, and you can find the latest episodes as well as everything from the first two seasons on Crunchyroll. The anime has not yet been released on DVD in North America, but I’m really hoping it will be soon!

Love shoujo manga? Yule love this!

Today I’ve picked out three of my favorite shoujo manga series which haven’t been licensed in North America… yet. I really hope they will be one day! They’re great series, and I’d like to see them on my shelves, waiting to be read at any moment’s notice. And shoun to my friends!

We are almost at the end of summer for this year. With one month to go, most of us will be back in school or back to full-time work. While I didn’t get as much as I wanted done over the summer, I did make some progress with the launch of Yumestate and managed to finish a couple of series in my free time. Read more…
