I don’t know about anyone else, but it feels like December crept up really fast. We’re already moving into the last 3-4 episodes of the season, and Christmas is just around the corner for those that celebrate it.

Black Friday and Cyber Monday took place last weekend, and apparently people do some crazy things just to get the best deal. For those that don’t know, Black Friday occurs during the week following U.S. Thanksgiving, where a large quantity of items go on sale and usually for the majority of the stores. Cyber Monday I believe is a pretty new term, but it was coined “Cyber” Monday since online shopping is a very popular way to purchase goods worldwide. Obviously Cyber Monday takes place on the Monday following Thanksgiving.

Anyway, I saw some photos of people in the US lining up and waiting to purchase goods. Allow me to go on a rant for a little bit; I find it somewhat depressing seeing just how much North America indulges in its ability to spend. The notion of individualistic consumerism, a term I coined to represent this type of mentality, seems to be driving how society spends and wants to spend its money. Nowadays it’s all about earning enough, to spend enough, not earning enough just to get by, or save for a rainy day.

It’s unfortunate that we value consumerism more than certain celebrated events, such as Thanksgiving or even Christmas. Recently I heard from a couple of acquaintances that they were not planning to buy gifts for their friends during Christmas, but instead wait until Boxing day to shop, because “that’s when the best deals come out!” Really? You don’t think the idea behind the gift is important? Whatever happened to the “gift of giving”? All in all, I hope there are those that still invest in buying gifts not for the sake of saving money, but for the sake of showing your love and friendship to those that matter.

So, on a lighter note, Snow has finally landed where I live! Although it’s quite cold outside, the sight of snow always brings warm thoughts of the Christmas season, and even Christmas anime! I don’t know about anyone else, but I always like watching anime that have slice-of-life moments around this time. There’s so many festivities to indulge in, and I for one am always glad to see series like these.

Things have been slow around Yumestate, only because we have too many things to juggle with in regards to updating, life, school, etc. I’d imagine we would be spending time with family when it comes to Christmas, and that’s perfectly normal and even encouraged!

I thought I would take this time to shamelessly show a youtube video that I recently favourited and have been listening to hardcore for the past few days. For anyone who likes Magica Madoka, this is for you!

Until next time, enjoy your stay at YumeState!
